Package delivery isn't usually something we associate with hell, but in HELLBOUND INC, every missed jump, poorly thrown package, and failed attempt can turn a routine delivery into a serious problem. You don't play as a hero trying to save the world, but as an undead courier who has ended up at the worst possible workplace: a logistics center purchased by Satan himself.

Behind this seemingly simple idea is a 2D platformer that combines precise jumping, puzzles, and dark humor. Your job is to carry packages to their designated destinations while avoiding traps and overcoming obstacles that seem specifically designed to make your working day even more miserable. HELLBOUND INC doesn't try to hide its central premise: this is a game where you'll make plenty of mistakes, learn from them, and keep trying until you finally find the right way forward.

HELLBOUND INC

Welcome to the Corporate Underworld

The game's setting portrays hell as a massive company with departments, workplace obligations, deadlines, and managers who don't accept excuses. Rather than relying on a traditional story about the battle between good and evil, HELLBOUND INC uses familiar situations from the business world and turns them into dark comedy.

The game is divided into eight departments, or circles of corporate hell. Each introduces a different environment and new challenges, while the journey through the company gradually becomes more complicated. From the bureaucracy of human resources to the greed of accounting, the entire concept offers a satirical take on a workplace where employees are just numbers and every task must be completed regardless of the cost.

This premise gives the game a distinctive identity. Instead of portraying hell exclusively through fire, demons, and traditional horror imagery, HELLBOUND INC uses everyday office life as the foundation for its jokes. It's a simple idea, but one that works precisely because familiar workplace frustrations have been transformed into another obstacle to overcome.

Delivering Packages Takes More Than Walking

The core gameplay sounds simple: pick up a package and deliver it to the correct destination. However, the path between the starting point and the finish is filled with spikes, fire traps, moving platforms, dangerous machinery, and other hazards that require careful planning.

You can't simply move forward and hope for the best. You need to judge jump trajectories, choose the right moment to move, and keep track of the package you're carrying. In some situations, you'll need to move boxes, activate switches, or operate conveyor belts to open a path to your destination. Each room works like a small puzzle that requires you to combine movement with interaction with the environment.

This combination of platforming and problem-solving is what sets HELLBOUND INC apart from simpler games of this kind. Obstacles aren't just there to slow you down; they often require you to stop and think about the order in which you should act. Sometimes the correct route is obvious, but figuring out how to reach it takes several attempts.

Problems arise when the precision demanded by the game starts to clash with its controls. Jumping and throwing packages depend on accurately judging trajectories, and a mistake can lead to a fall or a destroyed delivery. When every movement matters, imprecise controls can become particularly frustrating.

Mistakes Are Part of the Job

HELLBOUND INC isn't afraid to punish players for failure. In fact, trial and error is an integral part of the experience. Your character can die repeatedly, but quick respawns let you return to the same challenge and immediately try a different approach.

This system works well when you understand why you failed. If you misjudged a jump or failed to activate a particular mechanism in time, the next attempt gives you an opportunity to correct the mistake. Finally overcoming a section that has been holding you back feels more rewarding because you've had to learn how to beat it.

However, there's a difference between a challenge that motivates you to try again and a situation where the controls or unclear information punish you unnecessarily. HELLBOUND INC occasionally risks crossing that line. Precision platforming already requires patience, and when it's not entirely clear how certain obstacles work or where a package needs to be delivered, frustration can outweigh the satisfaction of solving the puzzle.

That doesn't mean the game is exclusively for experienced platformer fans, but it certainly requires a willingness to accept failure as part of the learning process. If you're looking for a relaxed game where levels can be completed without much thought, you might quickly run out of patience.

HELLBOUND INC

Forty-Seven Levels and Eight Circles of Hell

HELLBOUND INC features 47 handcrafted levels, including six introductory rooms that teach the basics and 41 more demanding puzzles. At the end of each of the eight departments, a final challenge tests how well you've mastered the obstacles that came before it.

As you progress, levels become more complex, and combinations of traps and mechanics demand increasing attention. The game gradually expands its expectations, encouraging you to apply what you've learned to new situations rather than relying on the same approach every time.

Additional content includes hidden collectibles that can be found by exploring more dangerous parts of the levels, as well as challenges that emphasize speed or limit the number of deaths allowed. These provide extra motivation for players who want to revisit completed rooms and try to finish them more efficiently.

Level design is one of the game's key elements, but it also carries significant responsibility. When controls are demanding, every obstacle needs to be clear enough for players to understand what's expected of them. The more complicated the rooms become, the more important it is that the challenge comes from a well-designed puzzle rather than from fighting the controls themselves.

Hell Has Its Own Style

HELLBOUND INC's visual identity relies on stylized 2D graphics and a caricature-like depiction of hell. The eight departments provide opportunities for different themes, color palettes, and atmospheres, so progression doesn't feel like moving through a series of visually identical rooms.

The humor is quite specific and primarily aimed at an adult audience. Alongside its satire of corporate culture, the game uses absurd situations and provocative details that fit its portrayal of hell as a corporation. This approach won't appeal to everyone, but it helps HELLBOUND INC stand out from many other platformers.

The music follows the game's pace and reinforces the feeling that you're constantly under pressure to get the job done. This isn't an experience built around spectacular presentation, but rather a combination of a clear visual identity, a humorous premise, and challenging gameplay.

How Does It Fit on Nintendo Switch?

Nintendo Switch is a natural platform for 2D platformers of this kind. HELLBOUND INC supports TV, tabletop, and handheld play, allowing you to tackle its levels away from home. Since the game is built around individual rooms and short attempts, it's easy to imagine playing through a few levels, taking a break, and continuing later.

However, in a game that demands precise jumps and accurate trajectory calculations, responsive controls are particularly important. Any delay or lack of clarity in how movements are executed can affect the experience, because mistakes often mean repeating an entire section of a challenge. Reliable controls are therefore more important than how impressive the game looks on screen.

I wouldn't draw conclusions about the Nintendo Switch version's performance without reliable testing results. What is clear is that the core concept suits handheld play, while the overall experience will largely depend on how comfortable you are with the precision and difficulty the game demands.

HELLBOUND INC

Conclusion

HELLBOUND INC turns package delivery into an unusual combination of platforming, puzzles, and corporate satire. Its greatest strength is the way it combines an absurd portrayal of hell with tangible challenges in which every jump, throw, and activated mechanism serves a purpose.

With 47 handcrafted levels, eight themed departments, and additional challenges, it offers plenty of content for fans of demanding platformers. Quick respawns make experimentation easier, while overcoming difficult rooms can be highly satisfying.

On the other hand, demanding controls and the need for extreme precision can turn certain challenges into frustrating experiences. When unclear puzzle elements are added to the mix, the game sometimes risks punishing players more than necessary. This is the biggest obstacle between a good idea and a platformer that could be even better.

If you enjoy challenging 2D games, don't mind frequent failures, and like humor built around the hellish reality of corporate life, HELLBOUND INC is worth considering. However, if you're looking for a relaxed platformer with simple controls, this workplace probably isn't for you.

Moj preferirani žanr su JRPG igre, a vrhunac toga je Persona serijal, koji me uvek iznova oduševljava svojom dubinom priče i karakterizacijom likova. As a longtime gaming enthusiast, I took my first steps into gaming on the legendary Game Boy Advance, while the PlayStation 2 remains my favorite console of all time. My preferred genre is JRPGs, with the Persona series standing at the very top, continually impressing me with its rich storytelling and outstanding character development.
